flashlight, doldrums, ferocity, wash, recesses
That's right. I'm taking up and taking on the 5 word challenge. Instructions below are followed by my entry. Be forewarned, Irma is a stickler for the rules. I will pass it on next week. Enjoy!
This is how it works: you get 5 words and with these 5 words you have to write an entry. The words might or might not be related. You decide how to combine them, and how long your entry will be. You tag your entry with 5wordchallenge and whatever other tags you like. Finally, you put the words in bold.
This challenge: flashlight, doldrums, ferocity, wash, recesses
In one week the challenge will be passed on to someone that participated in this one.
You breathe softly near me.
Lips barely touching the back of my neck,
Tickling the hair at the base of my crown.
A hand is cradling my belly,
Warming cool flesh,
Exploring dark recesses of me
Untouched by even the dim beam of a flashlight
In so long I want to cry.
It is a fresh wound
Peeling back layers worn rough over time.
New skin emerging, delicately pink.
It is also a healing wash,
A salve for my lonely, taut fibers.
Encouragement for new growth.
There is movement within:
An uncurling and unfolding,
A yielding.
There is also a guarding
To prevent being swept in this current
Away from me.
But the ferocity of you, of your presence
Battles my entrenched doldrums
Making headway.

(I have picked the challenge up but for some reason it's not appearing on the tagged list)
Would you like another challenge? I've tagged you to reveal five things about yourself. See my blog for details if you'd like to play.
